Hundreds of bikers escort Steve on his final ride

About 200 bikers rode together through Holderness on Tuesday, September 30, to escort the funeral cortège of popular rider Steve Coulson.

The convoy left Castle Café in Withernsea – where Steve had been a regular at its bike nights – before making its way out of the town and up to Lelley Fields Crematorium for the service.

Steve, who was born in York and lived in Withernsea, was described as a much-loved figure within the biking community.

His sister, Julie Grinney, thanked those who organised the procession, Biker Escorts East Yorkshire, and Steve’s “biker family” for the support they had shown.

One of the riders taking part said: “He was an absolutely brilliant man, bright and interesting, and he will be greatly missed by us all.”

Steve, 68, died following a collision on bank holiday Monday, August 25. Emergency services were called just after 12.20pm to reports of a crash involving an Audi A5 and a Harley-Davidson at the junction of Lelley Road and Sproatley Road, near Preston.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and possession of an offensive weapon.
