Hull KR clinch 2025 Betfred Challenge Cup

Hull KR have clinched the 2025 Challenge Cup with a dramatic late victory over Warrington Wolves, winning 8-6 in a tense final – 45 years since their famous 1980 triumph over rivals Hull FC.

Trailing 6-2 in the 77th minute, a decisive grubber kick from Tyrone May forced an error from Warrington, allowing Tom Davies to score the crucial try. Mikey Lewis calmly converted to edge the Robins ahead with just two minutes remaining.

Earlier, Lewis had opened the scoring with a penalty, before Warrington took control to lead 6-2 at half-time.

Rovers had struggled at times, making a few too many unforced errors in a match heavily affected by persistent rain.

This victory ends a 40-year wait for major silverware, their last being the 1984–85 John Player Special Trophy. It also banishes memories of the agonising 2023 Challenge Cup final defeat to Leigh Leopards, when Rovers lost 17-16 in golden-point extra time.
