Health walkers mark 20 years of getting out and about

The Withernsea Health Walkers have celebrated 20 years of organised walks around the East Riding.

They held a Walking Jamboree on Saturday, September 9, which attracted 35 walkers from Hull, Hedon, Preston and Withernsea who took part in an hour-long walk from the leisure centre and back.

Those taking part also carried out some of the tasks from the Withernsea Walking Trail boards presented to the town by Hull student Esther Carte, who also attended the day.

On return to the leisure centre, Laura Hutchinson of East Riding Council’s health and wellbeing team had brought along a celebration cake.

Withernsea Health Walkers meet every Wednesday at 9.20am for an hour’s walk, starting from the leisure centre. The walks they do are accessible for everyone and the walk leaders are there to make the walks enjoyable and safe. New members are always welcome.
