Fun for all the family at entertainment-packed Preston Show

By Ray Duffill

Preston Village Community Group will present the Preston Show and Family Fun Day next month.

This will be the sixth year that the Preston Show has been staged on the grounds of the Nag’s Head, in Sproatley Road. On-stage entertainment and live music will run throughout the day on Saturday, August 6. There will be fairground rides, activities and games for the children.

In addition to the fun day, there will also be the annual village show with classes for vegetables/fruit, wine, cakes/jams, flowers, art, crafts and photography, as well as children’s classes, with entries accepted up to 10.30am on the morning of the show.

Three trophies are traditionally awarded at the show: the Jack Lowe Trophy in the vegetable class, best handicraft in the show, and best in the show. The photography competition this year is again being run by Hedon Viewfinders, which has sponsored some additional trophies. Show brochures are available to pick up from local shops and other outlets.

There will also be charity stalls, a raffle and tombola, and the usual hot food and barbecue stands. Each year the show raises funds for good local causes and charities, which you can read more about in a future Gazette article.

Admission is 50p, and gates open at noon. The show will be opened at 1.30pm by a presenter from Seaside FM.
