Fireworks to light up town’s park

Nov 5, 2026

by John Prince

The fireworks will be on at Hall Garth Park in Hornsea this Friday, November 6, as the popular annual event returns with free entertainment for the family.

It will get under way at around 4.30pm, with hot food, drinks and fairground rides available before the main fireworks display at 7.45pm.

The mayor and mayoress of Hornsea, Cllr Stephen Prescott and Jo Hancox, will be doing the honours on the night.

As in previous years, the display will use low-yield pyrotechnics, which are designed to produce quieter explosions than conventional fireworks.

Admission is free, although organisers are appealing for donations to help cover the £3,000 cost of staging the event.

Hornsea Carnival chairman Iain Poole has thanked everyone who has contributed so far, with around £200 already raised towards the total. He has said, however, that for the first time in years he is unfortunately unable to attend because of prior commitments.

The fireworks display is organised by the carnival’s volunteers, who are also looking ahead to next summer’s main event.

While the November display provides an evening of entertainment in its own right, it also offers an opportunity to raise much-needed funds for Hornsea Carnival 2027.

Organisers are keen to stress that keeping community events free does not mean they come without considerable costs, with fundraising and public generosity playing an important part in making them possible.

Collection buckets will be available around Hall Garth Park on the evening, with visitors encouraged to contribute whatever they can afford.

The carnival committee said even small donations of £1 or £2 could make a difference, particularly as it continues its efforts to keep the main summer carnival accessible to everyone.

Anyone wishing to support the event can also make a donation online through Hornsea Carnival’s Facebook page.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive earlier for the fireworks to enjoy the other attractions.
