An action-packed day of activities, including a bungee run and volleyball taster sessions, is set to take place in Withernsea’s Memorial Gardens on Thursday, August 15.
Organised and led by East Riding Council’s Active Coast team, the Have a Field Day event will give residents and visitors the opportunity to take part in a day of outdoor fun, adventure, sport and learning.
Among the attractions will be a “clip and climb” wall and a “free fall” experience. These will be accompanied by slacklining, family play activities, stone and sand art workshops, a Nerf zone and an inflatable penalty shootout.
Supported by Active Withernsea, representatives from community groups, including sports and activity providers, will also be in attendance to provide taster sessions for their organisations.
In addition, a range of stall holders including representatives from the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, East Riding Libraries, the Health Bus and the Hut, will also be present.
The free-to-attend event is open to all ages and will run between 11am and 3pm.
Centred on the coastal towns of Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea, the Active Coast programme delivers activities for all ages and abilities throughout the year – celebrating the area’s beaches, promenades and open spaces, while inspiring participants to get active, be healthy and enjoy life on the East Yorkshire coast.
Among the other activities scheduled to take place in Withernsea this summer are Family Fun Games and a Kids/Family Bootcamp (age six-plus) on August 13, Adult Beach Yoga (age 16-plus) on August 14, and Multi-Sports (age six-plus) on August 19.
A full list of forthcoming events, including park runs, crafts, dance workshops, and yoga sessions, is available to view on the Active Coast website: eastridingcoastandcountryside.co.uk/coast/active-coast/
