If you have ever been to a charity auction in Holderness during the past 40 years or so, the chances are that it was run by two of the area’s best-known auctioneers.
Ralph Ward and Tim Fussey have been involved in raising tens of thousands of pounds each year for more than four decades but they have now, rather reluctantly, decided to hang up their gavels and call time on their charity work.
Dozens of organisations have benefited from their expertise in raising enormous amounts of cash, sometimes from quite insignificant items, with their unique banter between them always adding to the fun of the auction.
They would like to give special thanks for the support and generosity received from members of the public who have supported both them and the charities through donating auction lots and prizes, attending and helping at the events, bidding so generously and generally joining in with the true spirit of charity auctions.
Those attending have fond memories of the dynamic duo and their antics – and who will forget Tim selling Ralph’s shoes at one Burstwick auction?
Charity auctions will never be quite the same without these two wonderful characters and their supporters wish them all the best in their well-earned retirement.
