Hundreds of residents were thrilled on Sunday at the sight and sounds of around 60 tractors and trucks driving around the area.
They were taking part in the Christmas tractor run organised by Patrington Young Farmers’ Club to raise funds for Thrombosis UK and the club itself. It was announced afterwards that a total of £5,100 had been raised.
The vehicles set off from the Halsham premises of Peacock and Binnington and headed to Roos, Burton Pidsea, Burstwick, Keyingham, Ottringham, Sunk Island, Patrington, Hollym and Withernsea, before returning to base for a well-earned hog roast and refreshments after the 28-mile trip.
All the vehicles were festooned with Christmas lights, many featuring Father Christmases, reindeer and sledges, while musical horns were very much the order of the day.
Thanks were given to Buckles Farms and Wold Farms, as well as Peacock and Binnington, for their support.
As darkness fell, the vehicles made an impressive sight on village roads across the area.
The club has a JustGiving page for donations at justgiving.com/charity/patringtonanddistrictyoungfarmersclub. It also has a Facebook page, Patrington YFC.
The young farmers meet every Wednesday evening at 7.30pm at Patrington Church Rooms in Northside, and new members aged from 13 to 28 are always welcome.
