Hornsea couple Tony and Julie Ann Baker were honoured to receive Top Instructor awards at the UK Martial Arts Show in Doncaster earlier this month, after teaching there.
The two-day show attracts martial artists from countries all around the world, including America, Canada, Portugal, Poland and India.
This year’s show featured visits and presentations from actors Scott Adkins, Philip and Simon Rhee, and Cynthia Rothrock, with classes led by Bill “Superfoot” Wallace, Alfie Lewis (seven-time World Freestyle Champion) and a number of other well-known martial artists.
Tony and Julie Ann, who were inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame at the show, teach Wado Ryu Karate and Small Circle Ju-Jitsu at Hornsea Hub.
Grand Master Tony (10th Dan) has enjoyed training and teaching karate and ju-jitsu for 53 years, and Julie Ann, a sixth Dan, for almost 33 years.
They say that karate and ju-jitsu are excellent ways of improving self-esteem, self-discipline and fitness, as well as learning how to protect yourself.
