Aldbrough Community Hall has a new oven for its renovated premises thanks to a leading Hull building firm.
Beryl and Martin Senior took over responsibility for the building in 2021, and they organised a team of six trustees who help run the community hall. Their aim was to make the building work for the community and offer a range of activities for all members of the community. Previously the community hall was only used by the youth club on Fridays.
Since taking over Beryl and Martin have created a calendar of events including the monthly WI meeting, the baby and toddler group, youth club and the community church. The hall also offers a food bank and is available for private hire.
They have had the lighting replaced and CCTV installed both inside and outside, and the pair now have plans to increase activities for the village in 2024.
Beryl said: “Our local plumber/electrician Nick Moore hired the hall for his daughter’s birthday party, and we mentioned in passing that our next big outlay was for a new oven and hob. He approached MKM Stoneferry for us to see if they would supply us one at a reduced cost. We rang and spoke with him and very quickly they offered a hob and oven free of charge. Nick offered to fit this free of charge.
“The new oven allows the kitchen to be used for hot food and increases possibilities for further community events.
“We are very grateful as the old hob and oven was approximately 18 years old and no longer was in full usable condition.”
