Church relaunches warm space and monthly entertainment programme

Withernsea Methodist Church is relaunching its Warm Space and Food, Friendship and Fun programme as the autumn nights draw in.

Starting on Thursday, October 2, and running through to the end of March 2026, the community room at the church in Hull Road will be open every Thursday from 11am to 1.30pm.

Visitors will be offered refreshments including tea, coffee and biscuits, alongside a light lunch of soup, toast and crumpets. There is no charge, though donations are welcome.

The free book exchange and jigsaw library will continue to be available, along with a range of table games, crosswords and word searches. Organisers also hope to introduce occasional quizzes and other activities for those who want to join in, although people are equally welcome to simply relax, meet friends and chat.

On the last Thursday of each month the Food, Friendship and Fun event will take place, offering a more elaborate lunchtime menu between noon and 1pm. This will be followed by entertainment from 1pm to 2pm, featuring local artists providing music, talks and other activities.

The programme is open to everyone, not just church members. Organisers say the sessions are designed to provide a welcoming space for people looking for company or simply a quiet place to spend time.

Volunteers are also being sought to help run the sessions. Anyone who would like to get involved, or who has ideas for new activities, is encouraged to come forward.
