Storyteller Godfrey Holmes will host a talk about the history of the Cavell sisters later this month.
Edith Cavell was a First World War nurse and heroine who was shot by a German firing squad. Her sister Florence Cavell was a nurse at Withernsea Convalescent Home during both world wars and kept Edith’s dream alive.
The 15-minute talk will be held at St Nicholas Church in Withernsea on Saturday, October 21, at 11.30am, noon, 1.30pm and 2pm.
The church will be open from 10 am to 3pm. Entry is free. Light refreshments will be available, and donations will be invited to go towards the repair and restoration of the church clock. The church will also host a raffle in aid of the NHS.
