Call for clothing donations ahead of uniform swap event

by Michelle Horst

Families are being asked to donate clean, good-condition school uniforms ahead of Hornsea’s Uniform Swap on Saturday, August 9.

Preparations are under way for a second uniform swap event. Last year it proved popular with families collecting uniforms for Hornsea School and Language College, and Hornsea Community Primary School. With a larger location at the Hornsea Hub, this year volunteers behind the scheme are hoping other school uniforms will be available too.

Organiser Natalie Wilson is asking parents and carers to sort through any outgrown uniforms so they can be reused to prevent the clothes from going to landfill.

Natalie said: “We can’t take donations on the day, and people don’t need to bring something to swap to be able to come on the day.”

The team behind the uniform swap are also appealing for volunteers to help. “Anyone wanting to help set up would be very welcome from 4.30pm on the Friday. We’re also looking for rails and coathangers.”

Anyone wanting to donate or volunteer can contact Natalie on 07834 785132, or via Facebook at HornseaUniformSwap.
