Local businessman and Hull FC sponsor Steve Hodgins has been appointed as the new president of the club, with the role set to take effect from March 1.
The position, previously held by Roy Waudby and David Kirkwood, has been reintroduced as part of the club’s long-term commitment to heritage, community and strong leadership.
Speaking on the club website, hullfc.com, Mr Hodgins – founder of Steve Hodgins Plumbing and Heatin – said: “This club has been a major part of my life, and I have always been incredibly proud to support it both on and off the field.
“Hull FC means a great deal to me, and I’m very grateful to the board for their trust. I’m looking forward to playing my part in supporting the club, its supporters and its future.”
Chairman Andrew Thirkill said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Steve as our club president.
“Steve’s support for this club has been unquestionable, and he has been there for Hull FC not just as a fan, but as a genuine supporter of what the club stands for.
“The board was unanimous in its view that Steve was the right person to take on this role.
“As we build a new culture and a stronger future for Hull FC, it feels entirely fitting that someone with Steve’s history, loyalty and integrity should become our new club president.”
