Organisers of Burstwick’s Party in the Park have handed over a donation of more than £9,000 to Hull 4 Heroes.
On Saturday, July 20, Burstwick held its third annual event which entertained hundreds
of people with live music, stalls and games.
The aim of the event was to raise money for Hull 4 Heroes, this year’s chosen charity.
Organiser David Gelder was inspired to support it after hearing about the vital work it does for veterans and their families in the region.
In total the event raised £7,512, which, after Gift Aid, was raised to £9,126.
David said: “This money will help them out massively and when I was there, I saw first-hand
how busy it is. They are getting phone calls from homeless veterans and veterans who are on the verge of committing suicide, and this amazing charity goes out of their way to help them.
“I take my hat off to you all and I’m so glad that this money will make a massive difference. It was an honour to do it for you, and those that have served for our country.
“I will say a massive thank you to all of you that have supported this event and bought tickets – if it wasn’t for you, it wouldn’t happen.
“Also, a big shout out to the sponsors and raffle prize donors, and my amazing partner Rachel who sticks by me through everything.”
So far, the event has raised more than £17,000 for charities around Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Meanwhile, the date for next year’s Party in the Park has been set as Saturday, July 19.
