Emergency services in Withernsea are coming together to host a community drop-in event next week, offering space and support for anyone affected by the tragic events on the town’s seafront.
The informal gathering, titled Brew with the Crew, is being organised jointly by Withernsea RNLI, HM Coastguard Withernsea and Withernsea Fire Station, in the wake of the tragedy that has deeply affected the community.
The organisers say the event is intended to provide a safe, informal space for people to come together, share a moment over a cup of tea or coffee and access information about support available as the town continues to process trauma and loss.
In a message shared by the services, they said: “This is a space for anyone who has been impacted in any way to come together over a brew, support one another, and learn about the help and professional support available as we navigate trauma and loss as a community.”
Those attending are not expected to speak unless they wish to, with the emphasis on offering quiet support and connection.
“There is no pressure to talk – you are very welcome to simply come along and be with others,” the message said.
The evening will also include a moment to support one another and remember Sarah and Grace Keeling, and Mark Ratcliffe.
The Brew with the Crew event will take place on Wednesday, January 21, from 6pm to 8pm upstairs at the Meridian Centre.
Organisers say everyone is welcome to attend.
