Blue Light Weekend announces headline sponsor for Colour Run

by Sam Hawcroft

Withernsea’s Blue Light Weekend has secured a headline sponsor for this year’s Colour Run, which is expected to attract more than 500 people to the town’s prom this summer.

Keyzo, an IT solutions firm based in Kirmington, North Lincolnshire, offers bespoke business software products including online induction and training as well as digital document signing. Blue Light Weekend, which this year is on August 2-3, aims to raise money for and awareness of emergency services, lifesaving charities and military veterans.

Keyzo, as a supporter of the Armed Forces through the Armed Forces Covenant, said the event was a cause that was especially meaningful to the company. The Keyzo Colour Run, on Saturday, August 2, promises to be a fun-filled get-together of runners, walkers and powder throwers.

Therisa Thompson, chief commercial officer and CEO designate/visionary at Keyzo, said: “This event is all about community spirit, energy and teamwork, all the things we value strongly at Keyzo.

“We’re incredibly proud to support this event as it brings people together from far and wide to enjoy some time with friends and family to celebrate the hard work of our emergency services and, of course, puts Withernsea on the map.”

Registrations for people to take part in this year’s colour run are expected to open later this spring or early summer. Blue Light Weekend organisers are still looking for sponsors for the colour powder stations. Sponsorship deals include 10kg of powder and the chance to throw it over the hundreds coming past, as well as promotional banners and commemorative T-shirts.

Sponsors already signed up include Holderness Hardware, the Rosy Leaf cafe, Goodwin Fox estate agents, Hollym Holiday Park, the East Yorkshire Egyptian Society, and Darren and Marie England of the Withernsea Armed Forces and Veterans’ Breakfast Club. For more information, email [email protected].

Meanwhile, Blue Light Weekend’s first Pub Olympics, which took place at Withernsea Boating Social Club on Friday, January 31, has been hailed a success after £371 was raised on the night, in addition to £60 via ticket sales and £100 from the evening’s sponsor, Medcalf Builders. As with all money raised ahead of the event, it will go towards its organisation and delivery, while money raised through collections during the weekend itself goes to the Blue Light Weekend’s chosen charities.

The Pub Olympics featured a quiz with some deliberately bizarre questions – and the eventual winners were Withernsea RNLI. Other games included the Price is Right, Mascot Bingo and Play Your Cards Right. As the jackpot for the latter was not won, it will roll over to the next heat, which will take place at the Willows Holiday Park, in Hollym Road, on Friday, March 28.

More information, including ticket sales, will be released in the Gazette and on the Blue Light Weekend’s website and social media in the coming weeks.
