A Keyingham woman decided her 65th birthday would be the ideal opportunity to raise funds for her favourite charity – so she organised a race night for family and friends.
Dorne Barratt is one half of fundraisers the Orange Nutters, named after the colour of their T-shirts, and along with her fellow Nutter, Trina Beeston of Hedon, decided that the race night would be a great idea.
The venue was the Burstwick Golf Club last Saturday night and was well supported by family and friends.
The event was run by R N Promotions and featured filmed races individually boxed and sealed so no one knew which horse would win, meaning it was all down to luck rather than skill.
With the proceeds from the racing, donations in lieu of cards and a raffle, £637 was made on the evening and this will go to the Hull4Heroes charity, which last year benefited by some £8,500 raised by the Orange Nutters.
