Hornsea’s Bike Show roared back at the weekend, drawing thousands of visitors and more than 1,500 bikes for a day of family fun in Hall Garth Park.
On Sunday, August 17, the park was packed with over 50 exhibitors and stalls alongside the huge bike display, with organisers estimating around 3,000 people came through the gates.
Traders and exhibitors included local favourites Hall Brothers Motorcycles, Cottesmore Collectables, Royal British Legion Riders, Speedywho and the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club, with additional appearances from Veterans into Logistics, Shop4Bikers, Glass Yard Speedshop and more.
Families enjoyed traditional funfair amusements from DW Guest & Sons, knife and axe-throwing displays from Phoenix Throwers, and live radio coverage throughout the day from Seaside FM.
Hornsea Events CIC, who took on the running of the show after ill health forced the Hornsea Foundation to cancel last year’s event, said they were delighted with the success.
A spokeswoman said: “Hornsea Events Bike Show was a huge success. We are very proud and grateful to all the volunteers who helped make the day run so smoothly. Each one of them played a crucial part in putting on the bike show.
“We are overwhelmed at how hard everyone worked – not just on the day but helping set up the event and taking everything back down again. They were truly worth their weight in gold, and we cannot express how much we appreciate the hard work and dedication that they all had in helping make the event a success.
“We would like to thank all the traders, exhibitors and craft stalls for attending the event. We must also thank the professional companies who supplied services to us, such as ITSL Sound and Light and Beverley Ambulance Services, who helped us out when we had no idea what we were doing.
“The live bands were awesome, and crowds of people enjoyed listening, dancing and singing along to them throughout the day. We would like to thank everyone who attended the day and gave donations to our bucket collectors and donated online. We will announce how much was raised on our Facebook page in due course.
“Without the support of the local businesses who sponsor us, donate prizes to our raffles, provide food for our volunteers and raise funds for us in many ways, we could not put the show on. Thank you.
“Finally, we would like to thank each biker that took the time to polish their bikes and ride through. Without them this event would not happen. Every bike that entered the park was entered into the bike show and the judges picked out some beautiful bikes as winners of various categories.
“The most amazing Harley Davidson 1200 copper and gold bike won best in show and was a well-deserved winner.”
Plans are already under way for next year’s event.
