Anyone for tennis? Court gets much-needed refurb

by Terry Bearpark

Residents in a Holderness village can now enjoy the free use of a tennis court, thanks to the refurbishment of an existing dilapidated court.

The Burton Pidsea Memorial Hall committee has announced that its long-term ambition to renovate the disused tennis court on the playing field has now become a reality.

It has been made possible thanks to grants from Burton Pidsea Wind Farm Fund, Roos Wind Farm Fund, the National Lottery Awards 4 All Community Fund and Hull and East Riding Charitable Trust, together with money raised through donations and fundraising by the Tennis Court Fundraising Committee and at the hall’s Friday Open Bar evenings.

The court also includes a smaller marked-out area and net for pickleball.

The court can be booked free of charge by visiting hallbookingonline.com/bptennis.
