Hornsea Inshore Rescue has thanked supporters at St Augustine’s Church in Skirlaugh after receiving a significant donation raised in the run-up to Christmas.
The charity’s CEO and station manager, Sue Hickson-Marsay MBE, attended a special service at St Augustine’s Church shortly before Christmas, where the donation was formally presented.
A total of £706.22 was handed over to Hornsea Inshore Rescue, raised through a series of coffee mornings organised by the church in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The donation was presented by Judy Stott on behalf of the church.
Speaking after the service, Sue said: “What a wonderful Christmas service we had this morning at St Augustine’s Church Skirlaugh.
“Anna Jebson and I received an amazing donation of £706.22 from Judy Stott of St Augustine’s Church, raised from their lovely coffee mornings at the church. We could not continue to save lives at sea without the wonderful support we get from our amazing community, thank you.”
Hornsea Inshore Rescue relies entirely on donations and fundraising to remain operational, with community support playing a vital role in enabling the volunteer-led service to respond to incidents along the coast.
