Firefighters at Withernsea Fire Station have been growing out their moustaches this month in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity.
For the second year running, the town’s firefighters are taking part in the Movember challenge.
Movember is an annual event in November where participants grow a moustache to raise awareness and funds for various charities related to men’s mental health or cancer.
Last year’s fundraiser saw the team raise £1,000 for the Fire Fighters Charity, but they hope to surpass this target this year.
The charity is the UK’s leading organisation that provides physical, mental and social wellbeing support to all members of the UK’s fire services community and their families, both during and after their service. Support is also extended to their families. It offers a range of services, including clinical care, mental health support, residential rehabilitation and assistance with adapting to life after service.
Withernsea fireman Andrew Holbrook said: “We’re dedicated to serving not only our own community but also the firefighting community and the challenges they may face.
“The Fire Fighters Charity provides support and assistance to firefighters, former firefighters and their families. It offers services such as physical rehabilitation, mental health support, training and welfare programmes to help those affected by their demanding and often dangerous work.
“Every penny raised will go towards this amazing charity. We’d love for you to join us in this challenge – whether by growing a moustache, donating, or simply spreading the word. Every contribution counts and helps make a real difference.”
