Hull KR completed a historic treble with a magnificent 24-6 victory over Wigan Warriors in a pulsating Betfred Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford.

Having already lifted the Challenge Cup and the League Leaders’ Shield, the Robins capped off an unforgettable season with a composed, clinical and passionate performance that avenged last year’s 9-2 defeat to the same opponents.

In a repeat of the 2024 final, Rovers were the better side throughout, forcing the world champions into a string of uncharacteristic errors.

After a cagey opening quarter, Mikey Lewis broke the deadlock in the 21st minute with a brilliant solo try, darting through Wigan’s defence to score under the posts. Arthur Mourgue converted to give Rovers a 6-0 lead.

Soon after, Lewis and Oliver Gildart combined smartly on the left to send Joe Burgess flying over in the corner for Rovers’ second try on 27 minutes. Rhyse Martin was off target with the kick, but Hull KR were well on top at 10-0.

A late penalty goal from Adam Keighran got Wigan on the board just before half-time, but Rovers led 10-2 at the break and looked in control.

Wigan briefly threatened a fightback early in the second half when Jai Field’s pace created space for Harry Smith to score on 50 minutes, though Keighran’s missed conversion left the score at 10-6.

That was as close as the Warriors got. From there, Rovers’ intensity never dipped. Martin’s penalty restored a two-score lead before a superb move down the right saw James Batchelor feed Peta Hiku, who offloaded for Jez Litten to finish – stretching the gap to 18-6.

Then, with a minute to go, came the perfect finale – Joe “Budgie” Burgess read a Wigan pass, intercepted, and raced away to score, sealing the title in style.

Martin added the extras to make it 24-6, sparking wild celebrations among the travelling Red Army.

An emotional Mikey Lewis said afterwards that lifting the trophy was “a dream come true”.
