East Riding Council has said it is “disappointed” after new motorhome warning signs on Withernsea’s North Promenade were vandalised just weeks after being installed.
The signs, which were put up earlier this month to remind motorhome owners to consider residents and use neighbouring facilities, followed complaints about antisocial behaviour and parking difficulties. But several were recently found either damaged or missing, with some spray-painted black.
In a statement a council spokesman said: “We are aware that several of the new campervan warning signs in North Promenade, Withernsea, have been either vandalised or removed.
“These signs were installed to support responsible use of the promenade and to help manage overnight parking concerns raised by local residents.
“We are disappointed by this act of vandalism and are currently arranging for the damaged signs to be cleaned or replaced as soon as possible.
“If anyone has information about the damage, we encourage them to report it to the council via our website eastriding.gov.uk or by calling us on 01482 393939.”
