Withernsea Carnival has warned that this year’s parade is at risk of being cancelled unless more volunteers come forward to marshal the event.
Organisers say they do not currently have enough marshals to safely manage the event tomorrow – Saturday, August 16 – and are appealing to local residents, visitors and holidaymakers to give up a couple of hours to help keep the traditional parade on the road.
In a post on Facebook, they said at least 17 more people were needed.
The role involves marshalling road closures between 12.30pm and 3pm, starting from Withernsea High School. No experience is needed – just enthusiasm and a willingness to help.
Anyone able to volunteer is asked to contact Withernsea Carnival via its Facebook page.
