Final preparations are well under way for this Sunday’s Hornsea Bike Show, with organisers promising one of the most vibrant events yet – packed with bikes, bands, crafts, family fun and food.
Set to take over Hall Garth Park on Sunday, August 17, the event is being run by community group Hornsea Events CIC, who have praised the local support and growing buzz in the biker community as show day approaches.
“There’s a real excitement in the air now,” said organiser Rachael Charlton. “Preparations have gone really well and the weather is looking fantastic. We’re expecting the first bikes to arrive into Hornsea around 10am, and then the entertainment kicks off at noon with our live music stage.”
Setup will begin in the park on Friday, with the majority of the work taking place on Saturday. “There’s a small but brilliant team behind the scenes, and we’d like to thank all our volunteers in advance,” Rachael added. “We hope everyone planning to attend has a wonderful day.”
The show’s music line-up is set to deliver six hours of back-to-back live entertainment, with indie and rock classics from the likes of Killer No Filla, 53 North and Punky Munkeyz, a Status Quo tribute by Statis Quo, and a Stones-style finale from crowd favourites Stikkyfingers at 5pm.
But there’s much more on offer than music. This year’s event will feature more than 50 traders, exhibitors and stalls – including a dedicated craft tent showcasing handmade and artistic creations. Visitors can browse stalls from Melanie’s Store (photo gifts), Pink Pigeon (wellbeing and crystals), Babylon Soaps (bath bombs and wax melts), Sam’s Adorable Yarns (gothic crochet), and many more including Petal Pattern Crafts, Millie Sew Creations and Cuthbert Can Craft – the latter raising money for Just4Children.
Elsewhere in the park, families can enjoy traditional funfair amusements from D.W. Guest & Sons, spectacular knife and axe throwing displays from Phoenix Throwers, and live radio coverage all day from Seaside FM.
Traders and exhibitors include local favourites such as Hall Brothers Motorcycles, Cottesmore Collectables, Royal British Legion Riders, Speedywho and the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club – plus appearances from Veterans Into Logistics, Shop4Bikers, Glass Yard Speedshop and more.
A wide choice of food and drink will be available, from street food specialists Shiok! to wood-fired pizza from All Fired Up, fusion snacks from Bemora Kitchen and sweet treats from Kerry’s Kitchen and the Hornsea WI. Spud Buds, Eden Catering, Peaky Grinders and The Prosecco Cube will also be serving visitors throughout the day, alongside locally brewed cider from Hornsea Orchard.
To support the safe running of the event, a temporary traffic regulation order will be in place. Cinema Street will be closed and parking suspended from 8am on Saturday, August 16 to 8am on Monday, August 18.
This includes two disabled bays, but blue badge holders will be permitted to use the car park on Saturday under the guidance of Hornsea Events CIC marshals. On Sunday, part of the loading bay near Cinema Street will temporarily become two disabled parking bays. Normal access will resume on Monday morning. Organisers apologised for any inconvenience and thanked residents for their support.
A spokeswoman said: “If you are planning to travel into Hornsea, please bear this in mind.
“On Sunday, the roads will be absolutely packed and may delay you getting in, so please plan your day/travel carefully.”
Raffle tickets are now on sale from RageQuit on Newbegin and online at hornseaevents.org. Bucket collections will also take place on the day to help fund next year’s show.
“We’ve had great support so far, and we’re excited to welcome everyone on Sunday,” said Rachael. “Come along, enjoy the day – and help us keep the Hornsea Bike Show rolling for years to come.”
