Here’s a handy guide on what to ask your florist for this season and how to make your special day bloom this autumn season.
Want your wedding to feel warm and cosy? Ask for a seasonal mix of toffee and cream roses, try adding orange-toned dahlia and chrysanthemum blooms to add hints of autumn to your day. All tied with a ribbon in keeping of the same Pantone.
If you would like your wedding to feel wild and whimsy – ask your florist for a mix of British-grown cosmos in soft pastel tones. Add garden roses for their sweet scent and add height and focal interest points with delphiniums, stocks and astilbe.
If you would like your day to feel classic and chic, try a mix of gypsophila, eucalyptus and white roses.
A bridal bouquet of David Austin roses hand-tied with simple satin ribbon provides a romantic and elegant way to help you say I do.
Finally, perhaps you’d prefer to be more bold and bright – using pops of colour to create eye-catching floral statement pieces then you should ask for gerbera, hydrangeas, scabious or even sunflowers.
Whichever flowers you choose for your “I do” day don’t forget to make them work after!
There are so many great ways you can “get more” from your flowers than just your wedding day.
Lots of florists offer next-day posy bunches – repurposing the florals from your day to give to guests as they are leaving as a thank you.
Another very popular way to preserve your bouquet is to have it pressed and redesigned into frames to keep forever.
Lots of local companies offer this – Bee Creative (stocked in number nine, Hornsea) offers this service from her workshop.
There are also other ways to keep your bouquet such as drying it out or adding them into resin for everlasting floral pieces.
