September 19, 2026 – a day etched in the long 176-year history of Patrington CC as it hosted its first ever women’s game, down at Southside.
The finest moment in Patrington’s season, and largest attendance down at home, was a result of many training sessions and leadership of Andy Guy and James McGinty.
Back in July, the pair put on women’s training sessions, midweek, down at Southside. This was a roaring success, with more than 30 attendees, of all ages. These sessions continued and culminated in a double header, last Sunday, against Suttons women.
In the first game Patrington batted first and got 249 off their 12. Florence and Lizzie put on the highest partnership, both hitting boundaries. Patrington then brilliantly defended this total, with Sutton finishing two runs shy, with 247.
In the second game, Sutton batted first, boasting a large total of 258 off their allotted 12 overs. Befitting of the day, the game was an absolute spectacle, right down to the wire. Patrington needed 12 off the last, to which they managed 11. Tying the game, with both sides scoring 258 each.
