Hopes are high at Hull Road as Withernsea AFC prepare for the opening weekend of the new league campaign.
Following a summer merger with Withernsea United’s Saturday side, the expanded club will field two teams in the Right Car East Riding County League, competing in Division 2 and Division 5.
The merger brings together a strong mix of youth and experience, bolstered by the arrival of the Withernsea United squad, who enter the new season on the back of successive top-four finishes and a Harold Robinson Memorial Cup victory.
On the sidelines, Phil Good takes the helm as first team manager, while Carl Simpson steps in to manage the Reserves.
Former United managerial duo Tom Finn and Tom Richardson remain key assets to the club, offering support behind the scenes while bringing valuable experience back on to the pitch to support the squad.
Off the pitch, the club continues to build for the future. Withernsea AFC’s thriving junior setup ensures a steady pipeline of young talent stepping up to adult football over the coming years.
The club also extends its sincere thanks to Jacob and Hollie Jaye for their dedicated work with Withernsea United, wishing them the very best as they continue leading the Sunday and girls’ setups.
After a competitive pre-season used to integrate the new squads and build match fitness, both teams are ready for the challenge ahead.
This Saturday, September 5, the club also launches a new post-match hospitality partnership with the Willows Holiday Park, which is warmly extended to visiting teams as well.
Action kicks off at 2pm, with the first team hosting Humber Colts at home, while the Reserves travel to face Wareham Forest United.
