Organisers of Hornsea Carnival have thanked everyone who donated and contributed to the carnival pot over the three-day event.
During a packed weekend, more than £6,000 was raised from collection buckets, activities, tickets bought and QR codes scanned.
The total of £6,064.80 fell slightly short of last year’s figure, but thanks to the generosity of everyone who came along, volunteered and took part, the money will go a long way towards keeping the carnival going.
Carnival organisers said: “From every single one of us at Hornsea Carnival – thank you!
“If we’re honest, we were hoping to smash last year’s figure. Last year’s total was £6,310.18, so we narrowly missed beating it.
“Unfortunately, the Floral Hall event was hit hard by the World Cup clash, costing us around £600 in ticket sales. Sometimes these things are simply out of our hands.
“We also hoped our parade buckets would break through the £3,500 mark, especially with the fantastic crowds we welcomed over the weekend.
“Even so, to raise more than £6,000 is something we are incredibly proud of, and that’s entirely down to you.
“Hornsea Carnival is organised entirely by volunteers, and every single penny raised goes straight back into making next year’s event possible. There are no shareholders, no wages – just a passionate team determined to keep this amazing tradition alive for future generations.
“It helps keep this incredible community tradition alive.”
They added: “If you didn’t get the chance to donate over carnival weekend, you can still make a donation through our website by clicking the donate button.
“If you’d like to support Hornsea Carnival throughout the year, we’d also love to hear from anyone interested in setting up a monthly standing order.
“Even £2 or £5 a month makes a huge difference over the course of a year. Just send us a message and we’ll happily provide our bank details.

It has been estimated that up to 20,000 people attended over the carnival weekend.
