A Withernsea organisation is celebrating after receiving a donation from the Lions.
The presentation of a community award of £500 was made to the Friends of Withernsea Lighthouse at the 58th annual charter dinner of the Withernsea and District Lions Club at Guy’s Bar at Patrington Haven Leisure Park last Friday.
Some 50 members and guests enjoyed a three-course meal at the event, which was attended by special guest District Governor 105 John Sellers and past-president Lion John Earle and Christine Earle.
Lion President Ron Duplock welcomed guests to the dinner and thanked everyone for ensuring that the Lions were in a position to help the community when necessary.
In response, Mr Sellers praised members of the Withernsea club for all their hard work in providing charity help and promoting the Lions’ cause.
Ron’s son Paul Duplock, founder of PJD Electrical, then gave an interesting and often amusing speech about his work at Patrington Haven after the disastrous fire last year and how everyone had worked hard to rebuild the club to become the modern complex it now is.
President Ron Duplock then had the pleasure of handing over the community award to Sharon Carman, chairman of the Friends of Withernsea Lighthouse.
The evening was organised and compered by Lion Ernie Oldfield.
