Drivers face a diversion of more than 26 miles when the main road through Roos closes for repairs in November.
The two-day closure of Main Street starting on Tuesday, November 10 will affect journeys between Withernsea and Aldbrough, as well as traffic travelling on towards Hornsea.
The official diversion takes drivers on a lengthy inland loop via Halsham, Burstwick, Lelley and Sproatley before returning towards the coast.
However, Main Street will reopen outside the operational hours, limiting the disruption to daytime journeys.
A spokesman for East Riding Council said: “We will be carrying out road surface patching works in Roos in preparation for surface dressing, which we are due to carry out next summer.
“The road will be open outside of the working hours, which are Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm.”

The Roos closure comes ahead of further disruption between Withernsea and Hornsea, with a £230,000 road improvement scheme near Aldbrough due to begin on Wednesday, November 18.
As previously reported in the Gazette, the work on Withernwick Road and its junction with the B1242 Hornsea Road is expected to take two weeks, with a 13-mile diversion sending traffic through Withernwick.
