ON THURSDAY, November 29, it was change over day for the Withernsea Golf Club Seniors’ section.

Seniors Captain Martin Thurkettle has taken over as the new Withernsea Golf Club Captain and the new Seniors Captain for 2019 is Barrie Howes.

Barrie was the Club Captain himself back in 1998 and his first event as Seniors’ Captain was a Texas Scramble competition that took place on a very windy day.

The event was won by Martin Thurkettle, Paul Brattan, Gordon Hamlyn and Geff Richardson and the prize for the Nearest The Pin on hole 11 was won by Hughie Semple.

After the golf the Withernsea Golf Club Seniors attended the AGM and the members enjoyed a few drinks in the bar as well as enjoying a fabulous Christmas dinner.

 

ON SUNDAY, November 25, Withernsea Golf Club members contested a Better Ball Medal and the winners were Dave Dean and Eric Dean with a winning total of 64. Runners-up were Ian Thurkettle and Hughie Semple with 65.

There were five winners in the Two’s Club; Eric Dean, Stuart Taylor, Colin Somerville, Shane Foster and Darren Mountain.

On Tuesday, November 27, there was a Single Stableford event and the winner was Mike Battersby with 41 points. Second place went to Brian Napierski (37) while no third place was submitted.

On Saturday, December 1, the Paddy Mainprize Texas Scramble took centre stage and the winners were Andy Neal, Colin Somerville, Graham Riley and Dave Kinnear on 58.5. Second went to Peter Welsh, Ian Thurkettle, Phil Brant and Les Turner with 61.3.

The Spin-2-Win winning number for Sunday, December 2 was (21) – Keith Garton.

On Friday, December 7, the Supporters Big Club Draw and raffle takes place at 8pm, while Saturday, December 22, is the Christmas Raffle Draw at 8pm.
