ON MONDAY, June 25, a special presentation was made to members of Patrington AFC from the Withernsea branch of the Hull City Official Supporters Club.

The Branch is closing sadly, but they wanted to pay tribute to one of its founding members and the driving force behind the work of the branch, Mr. Graham Newdick, who sadly died last year.

Mr. Martin Kemp made a short speech, remembering Graham and the successful evenings held at the Withernsea Golf Club. So many Hull City players, now moved on, came to speak to the fans and give autographs and have photos taken.

The Withernsea H.C.O.S.C. formed in early 2009 and only ended when things changed at the Football Club. They were very special occasions with many fond memories.

A plaque in memory of Graham was presented to Mr. Richard Snaith, Mr. Alan Burgess and Mr. Steve Wilson, by Mr. Steve Smith, chair of the branch, along with a cheque for £613 to be used for a new kit for the Patrington AFC Under 12 team. The plaque will be placed in the home team changing rooms.

Present at the Holderness Inn was Mr. Newdick’s widow, Lynne and their grandson Oliver, along with Mrs. Sue Hart, a long-standing member of the H.C.O.S.C.

It was a sad occasion in one sense but also filled with happy memories and nostalgia for times past. The remaining committee members of the Withernsea H.C.O.S.C. would like to wish Patrington Under 12s all the very best for the coming season.
