HUMBLETON CRICKET CLUB

SUNSHINE greeted the Humbleton First XI as they finally got their season underway with a home fixture against Pelican.

With a number of players unavailable it meant the Second Eleven had to concede to Bransholme and Kingswood to ensure that the First Eleven fixture could go ahead. Batting first, the hosts were soon in trouble and but for young Ben Porter making a spirited 18, the only batsman to reach double figures, things could have been far worse.

An inadequate batting display saw Humbleton reach only 69 before been bowled out in just the 28th over.

In reply, Pelican never looked in any kind of trouble as they reached their target for the loss of just two wickets in 23 overs. Karl Blenkin was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 1-24 from his 10 overs, with young Thomas Voase picking up the other wicket to fall.

After a disappointing display, Humbleton will look to bounce back quickly when entertaining Hull Strikers this weekend whilst the second string with no fixture scheduled will have to wait until the following weekend to be back in action.
