Hornsea’s community

spirit shines through

LET’S Go Hornsea held their third Hornsea Organisations Together (HOT) event on Sunday, April 9 at the Floral Hall from 10.30am to 3.30pm with free entry.

The event attracted over 30 stands showcasing organisations from charities to sports clubs, social clubs and local event groups and received positive feedback from both stand holders and visitors. Comments on social media included: “Congratulations to HOT - what a super ‘coming together’ event at the Floral today. Loving the ideas from Let’s Go Hornsea. It’s an ideal opportunity for people from the surrounding area to get to know what organisations in the town do, when they have events and to gather information.”

Another said: “Just attending an excellent event highlighting all the different groups for people to get involved with in Hornsea, plenty for all to get interested in and some excellent ideas for the town, well done to all involved.”

Attendees were also inspired to get involved with community groups with another social media comment saying: “Can’t wait to get involved with a couple of things that I found out about.”

This year’s stall holders included the Hornsea Peloton cycling club, Hornsea Music Society and Hornsea Art Society which had demonstrations by members; and new for 2018, the Freemasons were also represented.

The Hornsea Area Regeneration Partnership (HARP) had a stand at the event showing the plans for the South Promenade development as well as the new leisure centre and the Heritage on the High-Street pottery project which is due to start later this year.

Hornsea Town Council also had a stand showing the planned new play park design for Mereside and the new skate park progress.
